Academic Qualifications

Dr Costello failed most grades at school until repeating Grade 8 to become dux and win a scholarship at Coburg Technical School. However, he accelerated too late so started work as a factory worker at Dye Castors Richmond in 1960 before joining the ANZ Bank Melbourne for a year as a Teller and studying part-time to become a teacher and finally a psychologist  He studied part-time to complete teacher training certification as a Primary, Junior Sec, Secondary and Spl.Ed. 1962-71 and finally in 1974 the FCP (Lond) M.Phil dissert “The Psychology of Special Ed” (College of Preceptors London, Royal Charter 1847 now The London Institute of Teachers), Certified as a clinical psychologist by 1975. PhD supervised by Prof Russell N. Cassel (USAF Col ret) and John K Meyer completed 1982 and continued research publications concurrently as a clinical, educational, forensic and research psychologist as well as serving in part-time lecturing at State colleges and universities.
